Holley has a reputation as a premier performance products company. In 1998 Holley aquired Hirel Technologies, formerly Cutler Fuel Injection, a company that specialized in Multiport Fuel Injection Systems. The primary thrust of the company was the development of retrofit kits for Big Block (BB) and Small Block (SB) Chevrolet Engines. These systems were marketed for both Automotive and Marine applications.
Holley made two other aquisitions later in 1998. The first was Weiand Automotove Industries, a manufacturer of intake manifolds, water pumps. and superchargers. The second was Lunati, a leader in the design and manufacture of camshafts, cranks, and pistons.
Here at FIS, we got the impression that Holley was going to get quite serious about Multiport Electronic Fuel Injection. This impression was confirmed at the 1998 SEMA show in Las Vegas, where Holley displayed an impressive array of their new Port Injection Systems.
